Women and Orphans ...are the last to eat (if there is any food left). the last to receive medical care and are frequently treated as servants or property. Polygamy is still the practice in many places. Women, men, and children are dying at an alarming rate because of AIDS, and alcohol and drugs are major problems for families and society as well.
The prescription is simple, yet culture-changing. Men and women will be discipled about marriage and parenting based on long-standing, Biblical and moral principles and offered the positive prospects of a Christ-centered life.
Basic nutrition and sanitation must be taught. Many diseases could be significantly curtailed by the boiling of water and elementary nutritional training could help prevent eye diseases, dental problems, and general poor health caused by malnutrition.
Tribal voodoo and witchcraft affect every area of African life, and both moral and practical education is needed to overcome it.
